Graduate Certificate: Construction Management

Emerging from its steel town roots, Pittsburgh has experienced a revitalization powered by innovative construction and careful project management by top civil engineers. Alongside the passage of a $305 billion dollar transportation plan by Congress to improve the national infrastructure system, skilled engineers will be required to effectively manage the complex construction projects throughout the United States. In fact, the civil engineering and construction management job market is on the rise, with an expected 11% growth rate.

Fueled by this knowledge, Pitt's Swanson School of Engineering is proud to unveil our newest program, the Graduate Certificate in Construction Management anchored in Civil Engineering. The 15-credit online certificate program can be earned alone, or it can be paired with any graduate engineering degree here at Pitt. The certificate program allows students to develop their construction and managerial know-how, while also aiding organizations looking for opportunities to support their current staff’s skill development. The Swanson School also offers a MS in Civil Engineering with a Construction Management Focus, for which you can use the credits you earned in the Certificate program if you choose to continue your education.

Pitt’s state of the art online technology makes it possible to attend lectures alongside of our on-campus students. Through combining our online and on-campus classes, we are able to create a collaborative learning environment of students with similar interests but diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Our program is designed so that students benefit from the flexibility to attend an on-campus class, join a lecture online, or view a recorded lecture enables students to select the learning style that works best for them and their schedule.
