Hometown Streets Project

The Safety and Security committee has partnered with the Oakland Transportation Management Association (OTMA), Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID), the University, PennDOT, and other organizations on the Hometown Streets Project (pdf), which is addressing pedestrian safety issues at various intersections along Fifth and Forbes Avenues in Oakland.

Cronicles the City of Pittsburgh's pedestrian crosswalks along 5th Ave. in Oakland.

Allegheny County 911 Center

The committee toured the Allegheny County 911 Center. Lesson learned: Be sure to verify that your service address is correct with your local telephone company to prevent a delay in emergency response.
