Safety & Security Committee (SSC)

2nd Annual CPR/Basic First Aid Certification Drive

The Safety & Security Committee sponsored their 2nd Annual CPR/Basic First Aid certification drive on April 9 & 16, 2005. Certified American Heart Association instructors from Student Health Services taught participants of the Heartsaver AED course how to perform CPR on an adult, child, and infant. Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was also explained and practiced. Participants were also given instructions on how to help a conscious or unconscious choking victim.

Participants of the basic first aid course were prepared to handle emergencies such as cut, scrapes, bruises, bleeding, shock, muscle and joint pain/fracture, sudden illness, poisoning, and heat and cold related illnesses.

University staff member, Marissa Arlet shares, "The Heartsaver AED course and the first aid course have something to offer for everyone. Even if you've had CPR or first aid training in the past, it's good to take the course again because things change."
