Members Intellectual Property (IP) Policy

For IP resulting from Center funded or government funded projects:

  • Full Members will have a six month period from date of disclosure to determine if they want to negotiate an exclusive license.
  • During the following six month period, all members will have the option to negotiate an exclusive license.
  • After this one year period, the technology will be available for general licensing.

For IP resulting from industry funded projects:

  • The funding company will have the time interval from the date of disclosure that is specified in the standard University Sponsored Research Agreement to negotiate an exclusive license.
  • For the remainder of the six months from date of disclosure, Full Members will have the right to negotiate an excusive license.
  • During the following six month period, all members will have the option to negotiate an exclusive license.
  • After this one year period, the technology will be available for general licensing.

All issues of the Center pertaining to intellectual property will be handled by the University’s Office of Technology Management.
