Who We Are PeopleThe team at the RFID Center Of Excellenceis comprised of knowledgeable professionals with extensive expertise in engineering. Many are among the University of Pittsburgh's top-notch School of Engineering faculty, innovators in their own right, with lives invested in research and technology. Primary FacultyMarlin Mickle, Director - Dr Mickle is currently involved in RF energy harvesting and the development of totally passive and un-tethered networks. His research also includes the fundamental science and technology involved in RFID.
Peter Hawrylak - Dr. Hawrylak’s research interests are in the areas of sensor networks, embedded systems and RFID. His current research focuses on analyzing the energy consumption of large sensor and RFID networks and on compliance testing for various RFID standards. Alex Jones – Dr. Jones is interested in design automation, low power and secure protocols, architectures, devices for next generation and prototype RFID systems. Bryan A. Norman – Dr. Norman conducts research related to the application of RFID in Logistics and Supply Chain Systems including inventory tracking and control, RFID enabled process redesign, portal design, tag selection and placement, and asset management. Jay Rajgopal – Dr. Rajgopal’s primary research interests are in (1) the use of RFID to improve the efficiency of all links in the supply chain, (2) analytical models for optimizing RFID based systems, and (3) data mining & statistical analysis of RFID data.
