A Swanson School of Engineering student has been recognized in the nationally competitive and prestigious 2009 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. Patrick Vescovi, a junior majoring in chemical and engineering and bioengineering, received an honorable mention. Vescovi received the George Washington Prize earlier this year, a $5,000 award presented annually to a Pitt engineering student to help further that student's engineering education. Pitt and the Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania recognized Vescovi at ESWP's 125th Annual Banquet Feb. 18 at Heinz Field. Vescovi career goal is to earn a medical doctorate in radiology and a PhD in bioengineering. He plans to conduct research in regenerative medicine and teach at the university level. He is the seventh Swanson School student in a row to be recognized by the Goldwater Scholarship Program. |
