Through a competitive selection process, the University of Pittsburgh received 3 of 7 awards by the Green Building Alliance's (GBA) Product Innovation Grants which seek to develop and introduce green building prodcuts to the marketplace. The intent of GBA's Product Innovation Grants is to support the final commercialization steps for tangilbe building products or processes that contribute to the economic, environmental and social benefits of green buildings.

- Tegrant Corporation and Dr. Melissa Bilec, Assistant Research Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Assistant Director, Mascaro Sustainability Initiative, Dr. Amy Landis, Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Dr. Kim Needy, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering. ($100,000)
- Iron Oxide Recovery, Hedin Environmental and Rosemary Capo, Professor of Geological and Planetary Sciences. ($81,564)
