Undergraduate ENGR 0022Material structure and properties(3 units) Description: An introduction to the basic concepts of materials science and engineering. The concepts of atomic, crystal, micro- and macro-structure, their control and effects on chemical, electrical, magnetic, optical, and mechanical properties. Modification of properties by heat treatment and control of processing. Fundamental considerations in materials selection. Prerequisites: MATH 0230 and PHYS 0175.
