Education

PhD, Materials Science and Engineering, University of Pittsburgh, 1994.

Professional Interests

Dr. MingJian Hua initially joined the Department as a visiting scholar in 1988. He earned his B.S. in Physical Metallurgy in 1982 from Beijing University of Iron and Steel Technology and M.S. in Materials Science in 1984 from Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, China. Since earning his PhD in 1994, he has been continuing as a research faculty with this Department. Dr. Hua's research interests are in the areas of phase transformations and physical metallurgy. His research activities have involved extensive application of advanced microscopy techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy, STEM, quantitative metallography, and atom probe field ion microscopy. Dr. Hua has worked on the precipitation, grain boundary segregation and properties of steels, aluminum alloys, superalloys and intermetallics.
