  • Make-up work consists of:
    1. Attendance at a graduate seminar in the Swanson School of Engineering and submission of a one-paragraph summary of that seminar (which does not duplicate the abstract) including the date, speaker, title, department, and topic(s) covered. MEMS graduate seminars can be found on the department's website under 'Upcoming Events"; AND
  • 2. Selection of an article concerning a mechanical engineering, materials science, or engineering physics topic from the popular press and submission of a one-paragraph summary of that article.
  • All make-up work is due within 4 weeks of the missed seminar, or November 14th, which ever is sooner. Failure to complete make-up work for one missed seminar will result in a grade of "U".
  • Missing two or more seminars will result in a grade of "U".
  • If you have a conflict with the seminar, please see Brittany Guthrie, 648 Benedum Hall, to complete a seminar attendance excuse request by September 5. Ms. Guthrie will notify those whose requests have been granted; if you do not receive notification, then you are expected to attend.
