Laboratories Human Factors

The Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Laboratory is a state of the art team-based teaching and research laboratory for undergraduates and graduates students. The laboratory focuses on cognitive, ergonomic, and environmental aspects of human factors, and its influence on productivity and quality. The lab has a wide array of hardware and software equipment to include:

  • Anthropometric instrumentation for somatology and osteology studies.
  • Chatillon Dynamometers for measuring muscle strength, job task requirements, and functional capacity.
  • ErgoMaster software to analyze lift, task, posture, and workstation ergonomically based jobs.
  • ManneQuinnPRO software to facilitate product/equipment designs that incorporate human body dynamics.
  • Multimedia Video Task Analysis (MVTA) software to automate time & motion studies and ergonomic analysis of visually discerned measurement equipment.
  • Visual Basic software for rapid prototyping of visual display and control designs.
  • Sound and Light detection meters for assessing environmental conditions.

The HFE lab supports several undergraduate and graduate courses.
