Faculty John H. Manley - Professor Emeritus

John H. Manley Professor Manley joined the department in 1987. Prior to that he was a Professor in the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, and the first full-time Director of the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Director of Concurrent Technologies Corporation, and has served as Assistant to the Director, The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory; Director, Programming Applied Technology, ITT Corporation; President, Computing Technology Transition, Inc.: and Vice President, Engineering and Technology, Nastec Corporation. He has been a member of the National Weather Service Modernization Committee of the National Research Council: and Distinguished Visiting Scientist, Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Professor Manley directed the development of the first video teleconferencing facilities for the School of Engineering and has managed research and development programs for the Department of Defense. He is internationally recognized in the fields of software and computing systems engineering. He is particularly interested in applying classical systems engineering technologies to re-engineer interacting materials transformation, management, financial, engineering and quality control processes in manufacturing enterprises.
