Since the college opened in 1787, the University of Pittsburgh has consistently earned its spot among the nation’s great universities. The 132-acre campus is located in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, home to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, other academic institutions, and many cultural centers. Pitt also serves Western Pennsylvania through regional campuses in Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville.
The City of Pittsburgh offers plenty of entertainment for Pitt students, including national football, baseball, and hockey teams, museums, theaters, and other exciting opportunities. For those who like to get back to nature, Schenley Park and Phipps Conservatory are located near campus. Further beyond, you can explore wooded western Pennsylvania via numerous recreational activities, including hiking, rock-climbing, fishing, white-water rafting, and mountain biking. Don’t worry about getting to and from these great places. It’s simple for Pitt students because you can use the public transit system for free with your Pitt ID.
