Get Involved

Forget the old stereotypes. Simply because engineers excel in mathematics and science doesn’t mean they’re doomed to a life of Coke-bottle glasses and calculators clipped to their belts. At Pitt, students take a different approach. Our diverse student population gets involved. Just look at what some of our students enjoy: clubs or religious organizations, intramural sports, Big East football and basketball games, the University band, and city of Pittsburgh sports teams and cultural activities. No matter what your interests are, there’s a chance for everyone to have a life outside of the classroom.

Engineers’ Week

Pitt’s School of Engineering is a tight-knit community. Some say we’re in our own little world, but we’re just doing our thing.—Mary Higgins

A whole week in the spring term is dedicated to engineers! Sponsored by the Engineering Student Council, Engineers’ Week, or Eweek, as it is known at Pitt, allows some friendly competition. Programs and departments, including the Freshman Engineering Program, compete in various activities such as the Soap Box Derby, a parade, relay races through Benedum Hall, and more!

Benedum Hall

Dedicated in 1971, Benedum Hall is home to exploration and discovery.
