Sean Glenn Jeremy Bieter Joe Durko Billy Buono Our project is to analyze and develop a means of creating more parking for the Community Human Services Corporation at 374 Lawn Street in Pittsburgh. The problem is that the street at which it is located is very cumbersome and hard to maneuver through while the parking itself is minimal and located in areas that are also very difficult to enter and exit. This project aims to find a way to both create more spaces and making the street more coordinated. Community Partner:
Problem Statement:This project is to adjust the parking situation and street so as to ease the parking problems in front of and around the Community Human Services Corporation (CHSC) at 374 Lawn Street for the employees and the visitors. There are many specific spots that need to be alleviated. A sloped driveway adjacent to the building and the neighboring home holds eight cars, but is easily blocked by only three cars. There is also a parking lot behind the building that holds most of the CHSC’s vans and a few more cars (ten in total), however, with the perpendicular parking and narrow space, it’s extremely difficult to pull out of or into a spot that has two cars adjacent to it; this parking lot also has a telephone pole that makes the situation even more cumbersome. If at all possible, the client would also like to help with the problem of the street’s narrowness due to the sidewalk-parking. Across the street from the CHSC is a grass lot that is now virtually unused and the client would like us to evaluate its potential to help in solving their parking problem. Our mission is to devise feasible concepts to fix this multi-pronged problem in a cost-effective manner and within our attached schedule. |
