Intersection Analysis for Hometown Streets Project
Community Partner: Oakland Transportation Management Corporation
Team:
Yu-Lan Tsai, Bradley Harken, Michael Reinhart, Christopher Leonard
Problem Statement:
Our project was to analyze the street intersects and to provide the OTMA with a list of
improvements. The intersects that we were assigned to analyze were, Bates Streets and the
Boulevard of the Allies, the Boulevard of the Alliesthe and Hamlet Street and Bigelow Boulevard
from the intersect at Fifth Avenue to the intersection at Forbes Avenue. This project was of
importance to the community because it dealt directly with public safety and transportation.
For each intersection, we conducted a systematic investigation to find potential hazards to
pedestrian safety, and develop recommendations for both short term
and long term remedies to best facilitate pedestrian safety and traffic
flow.
