ADA Analysis of Robinson Street Facility

Community Partner: Community Human Services Corporation:

Team:

Michael Nowak, Sara Morneweck, Jonathan Weimer

Problem Statement:

Our task was to complete a full ADA analysis of the Robinson Street Facility in Oakland with respect to guidelines set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. This apartment complex, jointly operated by Community Human Services Corporation and Oakland Planning & Development Corporation, provides low income housing for a number of individuals and families. As many necessary repairs and renovations have been overlooked in recent years, it was the goal of our team to help rejuvenate the building by making suggestions on how to make the building more handicap accessible as well as present a complete analysis of the building regarding its compliance with ADA guidelines. One particularly important area of focus was on how the building might be modified to accommodate wheelchair-bound individuals. The final report will aid the planning of future renovations.
