Hillside Erosion Analysis in Oakland Historic Neighborhood

Community Partner: Oakland Planning & Development Corporation

Team:

Frank Cousart, Timothy Gallo, Adam Gogolski, Edward Peters

Problem Statement:

The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation wishes to prevent hillside erosion in the Historic district of Oakland through inexpensive means. The OPDC has hired a branch of engineers to fix the immediate problem of hillside erosion at one point. The task we we were given was to analyze the hillside and deliver an inexpensive solution that the community of Oakland would have the means to perform and could participate in. The rationale behind these dual projects provides an extensive solution for future hillside erosion, involving strengthening the hillside through natural and material means, so twenty four years from now the hillside will not be a major worry for residents living next to Junction Hollow.
