Image Processing/Computer Vision

ECE 2372: PATTERN RECOGNITION, (3 CREDITS) Emphasis on machine pattern analysis and recognition, decision-theoretic and discriminant approach, parameter estimation and supervised learning, non-parametric methods, unsupervised learning, clustering, image processing, scene analysis, heuristic and syntactic approaches.

ECE 2373: ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS, (3 CREDITS) This course discusses models and theories of artificial neural networks as applied to neural computing, pattern recognition and adaptive systems. Topics include multi-layered feedforward networks, back propagation training, radial basis function networks, recurrent neural networks, associative memory and Hopfield networks, learning processes, supervised and unsupervised learning, self-organizing systems, feature mapping, reinforcement learning and competitive learning, global search methods in artificial neural networks.

ECE 2391: PROJECTS IN COMPUTER VISION, (3 CREDITS) A set of full-term projects attacking problems in image processing and computer vision. Projects will typically involve the development of problem solutions on computer vision workstations in the C programming language. Prerequisite: ECE 1390 ECE 2395, Special Topics: Image Processing/Computer Vision, 3 CREDITS) An MS level course in special topics of current interest in image processing/computer vision.

ECE 2395: SPECIAL TOPICS: ELECTRONICS (3 CREDITS)

ECE 3374: APPLICATIONS OF WAVELET TRANSFORMS, (3 CREDITS) This course presents applications of wavelet transforms to multiresolution signal/image processing and pattern recognition. Topics include basic notions of scaling functions and wavelets as basis functions in representation, compact support, localization property, multiresolution analysis, continuous wavelet transform, discrete dyadic wavelet transform, wavelet packets, image compression, image denoising, edge localization, segmentation, texture features, scale recursive filtering and multiresolution data fusion. Prerequisite: ECE 1390 and ECE 2523, or permission of instructor.

ECE 3395: ADVANCED TOPICS: IMAGE PROCESSING/COMPUTER VISION, (3 CREDITS) A Ph.D. level course in advanced topics of current interest in the area of image processing/computer vision.
