Click Due Date for solutions Course Policies and Procedures Examinations: There will be two in-class examinations which will each count 20% and one final examination which will count for 40% of the course grade. All examinations will be open book. No excuses for missed exams will be accepted other than certified medical certificates. Individual work on all examinations is required. Cheating on examinations is a serious offense and will result in dismissal from the University of Pittsburgh. Homework: Homework will be assigned, collected and partially graded, and will count for 20% of the course grade. You may work in groups of up to four individuals on a required homework; in fact, you are encouraged to do so. Hand in one solution set per group with signatures of all of the members of the group indicating that all have participated in the solution. Use only one side of each page, and clearly block or highlight your solutions. Staple all homework solutions to avoid lost work. Late homework will be accepted, but will be penalized. Grading Policy: The final course grade will be based on the homework and the three exams. Homework will count for 20% of the course grade, and the examinations will count for 80%. Using this weighted grade, an average score of 90 or above is guaranteed an A, 80 or above a B, 70 or above a C, and 60 or above at least a D. However, some curving of the grades may enable students to get higher grades than this list indicates.
