Construction Management & Sustainability Research Shadyside Giant Eagle Green Roof Project

Green roofs are an emerging component of green construction. They are beginning to take hold in North America after decades of use in Europe. The Shadyside Giant Eagle green roof project aims to study the performance and environmental benefits of green roofs in the Pittsburgh Climate. The Giant Eagle roof is divided into a 12,300 square foot roof and a 21,000 square foot conventional gravel ballasted roof. Real time measurements from the monitoring equipment and additional information about green roofs and the project are available below.
