Research Interests

Dr. Lin is interested in exploring how failure cascades and percolates in complex systems such as the emergence of order in soil liquefaction. His current research focus includes a collaborate effort of applying computational mechanics and image processing techniques in quantifying traction forces that cells exert on substrates, and continued development of a unified approach for continuum-discrete analysis and its application to geomechanics and earthquake engineering. His current research focuses on the mechanics and modeling of rock drilling for energy production.
