Undergraduate AIChE Student Chapter

AiChE

Mission Statement

As officers of the student chapter of AIChE at the University of Pittsburgh, it is our goal to increase chapter recognition both locally and nationally, increase student membership and activity, promote student-faculty interaction, and prepare students for important decisions concerning postgraduate opportunities.

Founded in 1908, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is a nonprofit organization providing leadership to the chemical engineering profession. Representing 57,000 members in industry, academia, and government, AIChE provides forums to advance the theory and practice of the profession, upholds high professional standards and ethics, and supports excellence in education. Institute members range from undergraduate students, to entry-level engineers, to chief executive officers of major corporations.

Membership

The Department of Chemical Engineering has agreed to pay for all AIChE student memberships this year. Applications can be downloaded from the AIChE web site, or picked up from any of the student section officers or Professor Velankar.

The completed applications can be returned to any section officer or Professor Gao. All payment information on the application should be left unmarked and will be taken care of by the department.
