The Campaign for Engineering Legacy Funds

Legacy Funds are unrestricted endowments which donors may establish to benefit a specific academic department, or the Swanson School of Engineering overall. Each fund requires a minimum of $10,000 and can be established over a period of up to five years. They can also be established through a bequest or other deferred method such as a trust or annuity.

Once the fund’s balance reaches the $10,000 minimum, it distributes income equal to approximately 4.25 percent of its value. While a fund established for the minimum of $10,000 may not seem to have a substantial impact since it will generate less than $500 in expendable income, the cumulative value of all these funds shows just how quickly Legacy Funds are adding up to have a real impact.

For profiles of some of these donors, click on their name to learn more about why they decided to support the Swanson School of Engineering with a Legacy Fund.
