The Campaign for Engineering Legacy Funds

For his first career, Paul Gerrie put his Pitt petroleum engineering degree (’68) to work as he ran a successful western Pennsylvania drilling company.  He retired in 1991, but decided to start a second career in the wine-making industry.  He now runs the award-winning Cristom Vineyards in Oregon’s renowned Willamette Valley.  The vineyard’s name comes from a clever play on words, using the names of his two children, Cristine and Tom (For more about the vineyard, see cristomwines.com)

Gerrie credits his success as both an oil and gas driller and wine-maker to the engineering education he received at Pitt.  He decided to use his Legacy Fund to demonstrate his appreciation for his educational experience here by formally naming his in honor of one of his professors. The Engineering Legacy Fund in Honor of Paul F. Fulton, Established by Paul H. Gerrie now serves as not only a tribute to a revered professor, but will also be noted as the very first Legacy Fund to be established in a former professor’s name.

Donors Empower Pitt

Facilities, professorships, scholarships, fellowships—all are crucial.
