The Campaign for Engineering Legacy Funds

In one of the most thoughtful gestures a student could make to the faculty who changed his life, Mahmoud Dabbous chose to use his Legacy Fund commitment as a way to thank his former petroleum engineering professors. He earned his MSPET in 1969 and a PhD in 1971, and went on to a successful career in oil industry, but never forgot it was his former professors who gave him the knowledge and guidance that would shape his future. Thanks to his generosity, the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering now has three more Engineering Legacy Funds, with one each named in honor of former professors Ed Stewart, Joe Taber, and Paul Fulton.

Dr. Dabbous is president & CEO of The IPR Group of Companies in Irving, Texas, a company he founded in 1981, which offers expert consulting in enhanced oil recovery applications. IPR also has exploration and production operations in the U.S., North Africa, Middle East and Asia. The company is recognized as a global leader in its field and has grown recently through a number of acquisitions. Dr. Dabbous was recognized by the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering for his career accomplishments with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996.
