Center of Postgraduate Medical Education, Warsaw, Poland
Professional Interests
Excitation-contraction coupling and regulation of cardiac contractility
at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organ level in the normal
and failing heart.
The current projects are carried out in genetically engineered
(a) experimental models of heart failure, (b) tissues, and (c) cells.
The employed experimental techniques include:
- Measurements of membrane current and voltage using whole-cell
patch-clamp
- Microfluorometry using Ca2+-sensitive fluorescent probes
- Measurements of myocyte and sarcomere shortening dynamics in
isolated cells
- Measurements of contractile force in intact or chemically "skinned"
isolated cardiac preparations and isolated hearts
