BIOE 3025 - Vascular Biomechanics and its Role in Pathobiology

Instructor: Vorp

Credits: 3

Term: Spring

Description: Blood vessels are under a constant state of stress, i.e., they continuously experience a wide range of biomechanical forces. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in developed countries. There is clearly a link between vascular biomechanics and the pathobiology that leads to, or in some cases acts to prevent cardiovascular disease. In this course after reviewing principles in vascular biomechanics, anatomy, and physiology we will discuss the link between biomechanics and pathobiology by studying the past and current literature.
