Industry Memberships

Members

  • Entitled to:
    • First right to negotiable an exclusive royalty-bearing license for any intellectual property generated within the Institute following the Institute IP ploicy;
      • Sponsored Project
      • Government Sponsored projects
      • Student project
    • Voting membership on the Institute Sponsored Project Advisory Committee that determines which proposals to fund as “center sponsored projects”
    • Voting membership on the Institute Sponsored Project Advisory Committee that determines which proposals to fund
    • A $4000 cost sharing on sponsored research projects contracted for in the
    • year of membership
    • copies of all center research reports
    • copies of all research papers published by center researcher
  • Annual membership fee of $10,000

Intellectual Property Policy

  • For IP resulting from SITE funded or government funded projects

    • Members will have a six month period from date of disclosure to determine if they want to negotiate an exclusive license, royalty-bearing license.  If more than one Member shall desire such a license, either a non exclusive license will be negotiated and made available to each interested member or separate exclusive licenses with restrictions will be negotiated.

    •  After this period, the technology will be available for general licensing.

  • For IP resulting from industry funded projects

    • The funding industry entity will have the time interval from the date of disclosure that is specified in the standard University research agreement to negotiate an exclusive royalty-bearing license. 

    • For a period of the six months after this interval, Members will have the right to negotiate an excusive royalty-bearing license.  If more than one Member shall desire such a license, either a non exclusive license will be negotiated and made available to each interested member or separate exclusive licenses with restrictions will be negotiated.

    • After this period, the technology will be available for general licensing.

Institute Sponsored Project Advisory Committee

  • Provide specific areas of interest for the annual RFP

  • Determine which internal proposals to fund as “institute sponsored projects”

  • Membership

    • Institute Executive Director (non voting)

    • Representatives from each industrial member
