New Student Transfer Check List:

Students new to the University of Pittsburgh system 

  • Get in the habit of checking your Pitt email. Be sure to check your junk filters as there is always a chance that emails may be filtered differently depending on the sender. 
  • Log in to my.pitt.edu using your Pitt email and password. This will give you access to your eBill, the CourseWeb site, and PeopleSoft, among other important resources. 
  • Start the housing search if you have not already done so. The majority of transfer students live off campus, you can use the Off Campus Living website (www.ocl.pitt.edu) as a guide to finding an off campus apartment. Transfer students are not guaranteed housing, but you can be put on the waitlist for on campus housing by contacting Panther Central (www.pc.pitt.edu) once your deposit has been received.  
  • Contact Financial Aid (https://financialaid.pitt.edu/) regarding loans, scholarships or any other form of aid you might receive. 
  • Receive a letter from the Office of Engineering Administration with the contact information of your academic advisor. If you do not receive this letter, please email ssoetransfer@pitt.edu.  
  • Schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor (this person is listed on your acceptance letter). 
  • Register for your courses, as outlined by your new Academic Advisor. If you are new to the my.pitt.edu or PeopleSoft system, please review the Enrollment Tutorial and visit the Registrar's website.
  • Enroll in ENGR 0087 –Transfer Engineering Seminar. 
  • Visit Panther Central (located in Litchfield Towers) to pick up your Pitt ID card – you MUST be registered for classes prior to picking up your ID. Students admitted for the Fall semester can only pick up their ID AFTER August 1st. 
  • Have all FINAL, OFFICIAL transcripts sent to ssoetransfer@pitt.edu.  
  • Purchase your textbooks through the University bookstore.
  • Attend Transfer Orientation. Admitted transfer student will receive information about Transfer Orientation in their Pitt email.  
  • Log in to PeopleSoft to check your Transfer Credit Report. Make sure any and all transfer credit is listed. If something is not listed that you think should be on your transcript, contact either your Academic Advisor (if admitted to a department) or email ssoetransfer@pitt.edu. 
  • Continue to check your email for updates from your Academic Advisor on topics like advising appointments, special course offerings, and registration.
